A cruise through Groningen or paddle boarding through the city is also possible. Your stay is in the historic center where you will spend the night in an attractive Rbnb or hotel.

Then take a walk through a forgotten piece of history, namely the ‘re-education camps’ of Veenhuizen (and Frederiksoord). In addition to the special history interspersed with the current artisanal atmosphere that has arisen, it is special to have lunch. Then you go back to South America namely Fochtelooerveen, a less visited natural park. Not bad because this national park is one of the most beautiful in our country. Day three. Appelscha These days are spent on Drenthe and the primeval forests or the primary forest! Among other things with a visit to the nature park the Drent Friese would. You start this day with a visit to Appelscha and the adjacent Forest Tower of 27 meters. It looks like the top of a volcano and from here you have an unlimited view over the Netherlands in good weather. Optionally, the adrenaline seekers can do another Canopy tour along the treetops here. Then you continue to the desert, the Aekingerzand (Vast drift sand area) is located just outside Appelscha, in the border area of the provinces of Drenthe and Friesland. After lunch or picnic in nature you will pass through Doldersum field, a beautiful piece of heathland and hugely extensive, definitely visit the sheepfold. You will see the shepherd returning to the distance with his/her flock at the end of the afternoon. If you are interested in local markets, you will also get your money’s worth here every first or last Saturday of the month. The overnight stay for the next 2 nights is in Diever in a fantastic eco nature hotel. (option is to stay in an old country house just outside the area)
Day 4. Diever After a delicious breakfast you can start the morning in the forest or with a visit to the Brink village diever. Just outside the village there is an old hunebed. At Diever we have written a nice walk for you: very diverse in nature and an option to spot animals. A historical feature here is the hiding hole, hidden in the forest, but with the walk you will pass here. In addition to water, you will find forests and heaths, meadows and winding streams.
Day five. Dinkel, After two nights at the primary forest, desert and heathland, it’s time to drive on again. From Drenthe the ride goes to Twente.
